Prepare Your Skin For Wedding Day

Prepare Your Skin For Wedding Day

So you hired the best makeup artist in the area to give you the glamorous treatment on your wedding day? Fabulous! Although, yes, you will do the “bulk of the work”, it is also useful to prepare your canvas. A freshly prepared face will give you the best head start on the beauty of the bride!

Reveal Hair Skin Preparation Tips and Makeup

While our professional makeup kit will work wonders to cover imperfections and smooth the complexion, working on a pre-prepared canvas really helps your skin to be at its best and flawless makeup. The following tips are suitable for any make-up appointment, not only for brides. Follow all these three steps to have your best skin on the day of your appointment.

1. Peeling

You can use awesome scrubs at home or opt for the professional way. If you want to seek professional help, ask your beautician what suits your skin best. You can recommend a range of derma planning treatments at a spa. Professional peeling treatments can start anywhere from a year to a few weeks before your appointment. The bonus with professional treatment is that it will give you steps tailored to your specific skincare needs that you can apply to your daily diet during the week or to your wedding and after.

At home, they are looking for soft scrubs. You can even apply it to the neck and chest. Some of our favorites are the caudalievinoclean Deep Exfoliant, the Dermalogica Microfoliant Exfoliant and the Clinique Face Exfoliant Scrub.

2. Moisturize

Moisture from the inside will appear on your skin. So, drink! Begin to moisturize yourself at least a month before your appointment, if possible. Try to drink at least 100 ounces of water a day. On the day of your appointment, drink tons of water and avoid salty and fatty foods.

Moisturizer is another great way to moisturize your skin. But as Jenny has learned, more is not always better. One customer complained that her makeup looked soggy when she did it herself, but she just used too much moisturizer before applying makeup. The goal is to apply about a pea-sized amount to your skin to prevent it from becoming a barrier to your makeup. Use clean hands and gently massage the moisturizer onto your skin. If you choose a serum (we love the soothing treatment with Saint Jane Deluxe Beauty Serum), apply a small amount a few hours before your makeup application to make sure that your skin has absorbed it.

3. Facials and masks

Facials and masks can give you so many awesome extra nutrients to nourish and moisturize the skin. Eye masks or sheet masks are a great way to moisturize the skin at home. Some of our favorite masks are DrJart+ foil masks, Sea Pack Your Bags under Eye Tart Patches and Caudalie Vinosource-Hydra Moisturizing mask. We always advise you to try different masks a few months before your appointment and use those that give the best result in the week of your wedding or event.

We also love facials! A series of facials in the weeks leading up to your wedding can help get a healthy glow! Ask your beautician what they suggest brides to avoid redness and rashes. Facials are not only good for the awesome benefits of nutrients for your skin, but also help you relax and feel pampered before your wedding or date.

Expert tip: for all these steps and suggestions, do not try anything new on the day of your appointment. Try all the products in the month before your appointment so that you have enough time for your skin to adapt and test for sensitivities or reactions.

Day of preparation

We hope that you will follow the above steps in the months leading up to your appointment. On the day, please follow these steps:

  • Drink: stay hydrated and drink plenty of water (electrolytes as a bonus if needed).
  • Washing: Wash your face with a facial cleanser and warm water. Be sure to rinse thoroughly.
  • Peeling: follow with a gentle exfoliating scrub (this can be done the evening before if you have sensitive skin).
  • Tonus: Use a tonic to balance the pH of your skin.
  • Hydrate: Apply an eye serum and a daily moisturizer before we arrive
  • Relax: we have the rest!
  • Bonus tip: teeth whitening and eye drops really help to highlight the color of your lips and eyes.

Consult a dermatologist if you have significant skin sensitivities or concerns to see if you need special treatments or need to avoid certain products. Please inform your beauty team before your appointment if you have allergies.
